About Yembon
Welcome to Yembon — where the rich history of Yemeni coffee meets the heart of family and tradition.
We’re the Al-Shagarbi family, and coffee has been part of our story for generations. Our roots trace back to the mountains of Yemen, one of the first places where coffee was cultivated and cherished. For us, coffee isn’t just a drink - it’s how we welcome guests, gather with loved ones, and stay connected to our culture.
Though not widely known, Yemen is recognized as the birthplace of coffee. Its high-altitude farms produce beans with deep, complex flavors that are among the finest in the world. Growing up, we shared countless moments over freshly brewed cups — from the bustling markets of Yemen to quiet family gatherings. Coffee has always been more than a daily ritual; it's a source of connection, comfort, and tradition.
When war forced us to leave our homeland in 2016, we found refuge with family in Washington State, eventually settling near Seattle — a city that shares our deep love for coffee. Inspired by this new chapter, we decided to continue our family’s legacy by bringing the exceptional coffee of Yemen to new communities.
At Yembon, we’re proud to be a small family business dedicated to sharing our heritage through every cup. We source our beans directly from small mountain villages in Yemen, ensuring each batch reflects the quality, care, and tradition passed down through generations. As a fair trade company, we’re committed to supporting sustainable practices and ensuring a better future for the farmers and families who make this work possible.
Every cup of Yembon coffee is a celebration — of resilience, of home, and of the power of connection. Thank you for being part of our journey.
